- Red Edges Around Fairways, Tee Boxes, Greens, or Bunkers
If you see red edges around your fairways, greens, or bunkers in turfRad scans, here’s what it means:
-
When the sensor detects taller grass or dry areas (like bunkers), readings will appear lower. Taller grass can also show slightly higher readings due to microwave surface interaction — this is why we draw boundaries around fairways.
-
Red edges often indicate that your fairway boundaries need fine-tuning. See Adjusting Boundaries in the turfRad Platform for further information.
-
A small amount of red edge effect can still occur even with perfectly adjusted boundaries due to GPS inaccuracy. This is normal, unavoidable, and does not significantly impact your statistics.
