- I See Differences Based on Which Sensor Is Measuring an Area
If you notice that areas scanned by one sensor consistently appear wetter or drier than those scanned by another, this may simply be due to normal sensor variation.
turfRad sensors measure extremely low-power microwave signals from the soil — and because of this sensitivity, small calibration differences between individual units are expected. These variations don’t indicate a malfunction but can be corrected through a process called intercalibration.
Intercalibration ensures all sensors are aligned to the same reference, so your moisture maps remain consistent across the course.
This is expected, and we have the solution to align your sensors. Please contact support@terraradtech.com to request the intercalibration.
