-Why Do Stripes Appear on My Moisture Map?

⚠️ Important: Folded Array Mounts and Map Striping

When using any two-sensor array mount (Toro Array Mount, turfRad-built array mounts, or custom array setups), do not drive across fairways or other scanned areas with the array folded into its transport position.

When the array is folded upward, the sensors are no longer measuring the turf. Instead, they are measuring the sky. These measurements can be recorded by the system and appear on the moisture map as visible stripes or bands if you drive across a previously scanned fairway with the array folded.

To prevent striping:

  • Keep the array deployed while scanning.
  • Only fold the array after leaving the fairway, green, or area being mapped.
  • If transport is required between holes or locations, fold the array outside the scanned turf boundary whenever possible.

If striping still appears:
Please contact support support@terraradtech.com and provide details of your setup and workflow. We are currently developing a software filter that will automatically detect and remove measurements collected while the sensors are in the folded transport position.

Best Practice: Complete your scan, exit the mapped area, and then fold the array for transport.
