- My Sensor Is Not Showing Up in the App

Issue

If your turfRad sensor isn’t showing up in the Bluetooth device list in the app, it usually means the sensor isn’t currently active or you’re outside Bluetooth range.

Possible Causes

  • You’re too far from the sensor (Bluetooth only works within ~10 meters / 30 feet).
  • The sensor isn’t powered or hasn’t finished its startup sequence.
  • The function light on the sensor is off (see Sensor Function Light Is Off).
  • The sensor is still initializing GPS (first startup may take up to 30 minutes).

Solutions

1. Move Closer to the Sensor

  • Ensure you’re within about 10 meters (30 feet) of the unit.
  • Refresh the Bluetooth device list in the turfRad app.

2. Check the Sensor’s LEDs

3. Confirm the Sensor Has Power

  • Ensure the power connection is secure and the vehicle is providing voltage.
  • For new setups, verify the installation of the hardwiring kit or fuse tap.
4. Wait for GPS Initialization (New Sensors)
  • On a new install, the first GPS acquisition may take up to 30 minutes under open sky.
  • During this time, the sensor may not appear in the app.
  • You can see the GPS signal moving closer to where you are as it is locating you.

Still Not Showing Up?

If your sensor still doesn’t appear after checking these steps:

  • Try a different mobile device to rule out Bluetooth issues.
